In March 2025, Israeli forces killed 15 Palestinian medics and rescue workers in Rafah, Gaza, whose bodies were subsequently found buried in a mass grave alongside their crushed emergency vehicles. Details of the Incident • Date and Location: The attack occurred on March 23, 2025, in the Tel al-Sultan district of Rafah, in southern Gaza. • Victims: The deceased included eight staff members from the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) (PRCS), six from the Palestinian Civil Defense, and one employee from the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA). • Events: The emergency workers were on a mission to retrieve casualties from an earlier Israeli strike when their convoy (consisting of ambulances, a fire truck, and a UN vehicle) came under fire from Israeli troops. After the attack, their bodies were buried in a mass grave along with the vehicles and covered with sand. • Discovery: The bodies and vehicles were recovered a week later by UN and rescue workers after access to the area was granted by Israeli authorities.
